it's a jungle out there

This is what happens when I don't have a story. I've been trying to do more illustrating lately (and not let the little one dictate my creative time) and so I do spots.
I want to work on animals and any help would be awesome. :)

  2. Hey Emily, these are fun. I am never sure how to go a out critiquing you because I think most of my comments are opinions that you probably already considered. Your shapes are always so well designed that is hard for me to pinpoint problems. That being said feel free to ignore my critIque if you aren't interested. I will just tell you what I think could possibly improve them, but realize I am smiling as I write this because I do think they are really cute.
Overall the animal poses are pretty stiff. I think it would be nice if there was gesture in their poses. The giraffe would be a fun one to put in a more dynamic pose, but I do love the design of the head and the spots. The body designs seems a little generic (mainly on the giraffe, lion, and fox), and I am not sure that I am loving the simplified leg ending in the pointy toe (however that is style choice that is completely up to you). The colors on the lion seem dark and boring to me. The monkey is my favorite, but I wonder how he would look with arms. Good job, I can totally see these selling on cards at a zoo gift shop or as art for nursery decor.
P.S. don't think I am weird for commenting in the middle of the night, I usually look at blogs when I am feeding the baby.
